The sinking or caving in of land or a building.
Subsidence can be scary because it can make buildings fall down or make the ground not safe.
Examples:
The subsidence of the ground caused the house to fall.
The subsidence made the road all bumpy.
We had to leave our house because of the subsidence.
The subsidence made the building look like a sandwich!
The subsidence was so big, it made a lake where there wasn't one before.
The subsidence was like the ground was giving a big hug to the building.
